 Choir and Orchestra Minimize

Choir students will be exposed to various styles of music including: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Spirituals and Broadway.

Students taking orchestra will be exposed to various styles of music including: Classical, Pop, Folk and Broadway.  Further studies in fundamentals include: Scales, Shifting, Bowing techniques and Sight-reading.

Performances are conducted throughout the year.

Education: BA Music Ed K-12, Major Choral Music; Minor Violin Performance from Adams State College, Alamosa, CO.

Bio: Carla McWilliams graduated from Adams State College in 1978 with a BA in Music Education, K-12, majoring in Choral music and minoring in violin performance. She taught at Drake Junior High during the 1978-79 school year. In the fall of 1979 she moved positions to Euclid Middle School, and is currently in her 29th year at this school. Carla has played violin in the Arapahoe Philharmonic for the past 13 seasons, where she was Personnel Director and Assistant Stage Manager for 10 seasons. She has been a member of the Colorado Choir, the Cherry Creek Chorale, the Metropolitan State College Symphony, and the Bethany Lutheran Church Chapel Choir. Carla is married to Jerry McWilliams, a teacher at Arapahoe High School, and is the mother of Rachael, a theatrical choreographer, and Cameron, a freshman in college. In her spare time she enjoys working in the yard, hiking, fishing, reading, and counted cross-stitch embroidery.
