 What is a SmartBoard? Minimize

Every classrom at Euclid is equipped with a SmartBoard, projector and computer. One can think of a SmartBoard as an electronic chalkboard. Lessons may be saved, reused and shared with other staff. Our teachers can upload their daily lessons to the web or print them off for sick students.

Together these components help to define our school in the 21st Century. The heart of our 21st century classroom (apart from teacher and students) is the interactive whiteboard or SmartBoard. It's the focal point for whole-class learning. Teachers use their SmartBoard in every classroom at Euclid.

EUCLID - A BEST PRACTICE SCHOOL
In Fall of 2007 Euclid was featured in a case study by SmartTech Inc. as a best practice school in the use of interactive whiteboards. Click this link to read the overview of the
case study.  The entire study may be found here.

SmartBoard Technology Grant of 2005
In the fall of 2005 Euclid Middle School was awarded a large technology grant. The grant has provided for a LCD projector and SMART Board to be installed in every classroom at Euclid. Every teacher along with a student selected from their classes has received extensive training in how to use the SMART board in their everyday teaching.

The EMS parent community supported this grant with a large contribution of funds, thus fostering their support to integrating technology in our school. This implicit nod of support from our parents helps to strengthen our instructional offering and build a school designed with the 21st Century Student in mind.

Teachers are working in groups to build a curriculum-based library of content to be used and reused each year. This best-practice approach allows teachers to share content across the curriculum. Teachers are able to build fantastic lesson plans in an area they have expertise, and then share those lesson plans with their peers.

On March 28th, 2006 all Euclid classrooms had SMART Boards and projectors installed. This was an exciting improvement for Euclid. Both teachers and students are really excited about using this great learning tool!
